Why join the U-Prep instructional team?

Be a GAME-CHANGER

We do not believe that race, zip code, or socioeconomic status determines the destiny of a five-year-old. Instead, we are unrelenting in our hard work and optimism for each and every child. Joining the University Prep team means entering the “change the world” business.

Be a PROFESSIONAL

Nothing matters more to us than the people we put in front of our scholars each and every day. Joining our team means developing your skills and abilities to the fullest while being treated with the highest regard. A four week summer professional development institute, research trips to observe/analyze the highest performing urban schools in our nation, ongoing observation/feedback loops, and a laptop along with an abundance of resources and tools are all part of the professional “package” you receive as an educator within our results-driven organization.

Be on a TEAM

We believe team beats individual. We know that accomplishing our goal of eliminating the achievement gap cannot be done alone. Our staff is a cohesive team with everyone on the same page moving in the same direction. We all hold high expectations for our scholars, both academically and behaviorally, and all contribute to the achievement-oriented culture that infuses the perfect mix of joy and rigor.

What are we looking for?

University Prep is undertaking a comprehensive, nation wide search for committed, intelligent, hard-working educators with a track record of success working with urban student populations. Candidates must have an unwavering belief that urban youth can achieve greatness and that college is in the future of each and every child.

University Prep will consider leadership and teaching candidates who:

    • Are 100 % dedicated to educational success for urban students.
    • Have the highest commitment to improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration, best practices, and regular assessment.
    • Take ownership for the academic results of their students.
    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Demonstrate evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player.
    • Speak Spanish or have experience working with bilingual students (preferred).
    • Have urban teaching experience (preferred).
