Update on Homeless Camps Surrounding Arapahoe Street Campus

in Announcements

September 22, 2020

University Preparatory Schools has worked closely with Denver Public Schools and the City of Denver to address the concerns regarding the homeless camps near our Arapahoe Street campus. The camps were humanely cleaned up today and are no longer surrounding our school’s facilities.

We are committed to ensuring the school community at U Prep experiences a safe, healthy, and warm welcome when returning to in-person school in October. Part of that safe, healthy, warm, and welcoming return is ensuring the facilities surrounding our school are safe and secure. We are supportive of the city’s efforts to help anyone in our community who is experiencing housing insecurity and appreciate their understanding of our need to create school environments that put the health and safety of our children, families, and staff front and center. We will continue to monitor the perimeter of the campus and reach out to the City for support as needed to ensure the continued safety of our school community.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this matter please reach out to our Executive Director, David Singer, at dsinger@uprepschool.org.
