08/03/2020:

New and Returning Families – Pick up your supplies/tech this week! Wednesday through Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm, drive up to your campus and pick up your technology (if needed), grab a scholar kit with supplies to launch the year, and purchase polos. All staff members will maintain safety precautions with masks and social distancing. You must complete registration BEFORE picking up these items. Attention RETURNING, incoming 1st & 2nd Grade Scholars — to prepare you for the start of remote school we need to give your tech an upgrade. Based on the recent DPS decision, University Preparatory Schools will start remote learning on August 17th. More information will be coming to support you and your scholar.  Please download our app (see instructions below) for continued communication. If you have scheduled time for a home visit or registration, please note that these times will be rearranged based on updated DPS guidance.

This list is intended as a starting point of potentially helpful resources depending on an individual’s needs. This is also a living document – we will be actively updating the document as we identify different resources for families.

    • Call “211” and the team will refer you to a community resource.

  • DPS Coronavirus Resources
    • Live updates from the district and some additional resources. They also have a great webpage with FAQs
  • GIVE Center
    • Can provide essential hygiene items and put families in touch with other community partners for other supports
    • Location:: First floor of the Richard T. Castro Human Services Center, located at 1200 Federal Blvd.
    • Hours: Monday-Thursday 9 am-3 pm
  • The Gathering Place
    • Services to women, children, and transgender individuals who are experiencing poverty or homelessness.
  • An additional list of resources from Transform Education Now
    • Includes a lot of great resources, particularly social-emotional support and virtual parent meetings for support
  • Love Northeast Denver
    • Christian-affiliated organization: “Love Northeast Denver seeks to provide support and aid as best as possible to those who have need. In a world that often preaches, “Every man for himself,” we believe that our best resources to get through this crisis are each other.”
  • Denver Public Schools will offer free meals to all Denver students at 11 locations throughout the city, using a grab-and-go style system, weekdays from Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3. Breakfast will be served from 8-9 am and Lunch will be served from 12-1 pm. Select Denver recreation centers will be serving dinner to children 18 years old and younger. Families may also pick up food boxes during dinner services. Details are available on the DPS website.
  • Denver Metro Area Meal Distribution Sites

  • Food Pantries
  • Although many schools are closing, state officials are urging child care providers to stay open. Because child care centers are typically smaller than K-12 schools, the risk of virus transmission there might be lower. More information can be found in this chalkbeat article.

  • Energy Bill Payment Assistance: This organization can support you through the application process and determine if you’re eligible for support in paying your energy bills
  • Temporary Rental and Utility Assistance Program: The Temporary Rental and Utility Assistance program (TRUA) offers resources to Denver residents who are facing a housing crisis or hardship to help prevent eviction or displacement.
  • Xcel Suspended Service Disconnections: Xcel released a statement, that they will not disconnect any customers from service until further notice due to COVID-19.

I wouldn’t take my girls anywhere else in the city. The teachers are caring and the main focus is preparing children for college. I feel like all schools should be like University Prep.
